The new data science and data analytics programs are designed to meet the growing demand for data professionals across various industries, offering students a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills grounded in strong ethical standards.

Program Options

The data science major and the applied data analytics certificate stand out due to their interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from mathematics, business, and computer science. Students will benefit from a curriculum that balances theory and practice, ensuring they are well-prepared to tackle real-world challenges with a foundation in ethical data use.

The data science major is intentionally slimmed down compared to similar programs in the region, allowing Concordia students the opportunity to pursue a second major or minor in an area that uses data, such as math or a business program.

Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Data Analytics

Students can now earn an undergraduate certificate in applied data analytics. This certificate will equip students with the practical knowledge and skills essential for thriving in data-centric fields.

Minor in Data Analytics

The data analytics minor complements most majors.

Concentration in Data Analytics

Computer science majors choose one or more specialized concentrations (computing, cybersecurity, or data analytics) based on where they want to focus their career. The data analytics concentration prepares students for a career in data science, focusing on data mining, forecasting, and statistical models.

Note: Due to the significant overlap in coursework, students may not complete more than one of these programs.
