Lyric mezzo-soprano Holly Janz is a dynamic and versatile singing actress whose voice is praised for its clarity, richness, and warmth. Known for her compelling stage presence and musical depth, she has performed leading and supporting roles with opera companies across the United States, including Lyric Opera of the North, Winter Opera Saint Louis, Skylark Opera, Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Wichita Grand Opera, and Union Avenue Opera Theatre.

Her orchestral engagements span a broad range of repertoire and include appearances with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra, Greater Grand Forks Symphony, Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, and Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. A two-time national finalist in the prestigious National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Award competition, she is also a recipient of the Irma Cooper Award.

The 2025-26 season highlights include her portrayal of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Scalia/Ginsburg, a solo appearance in Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra’s Night at the Oscars, and a featured soloist role in Verdi’s Requiem. She also looks forward to collaborating once again with guitarist J. Curtis Thompson on Ernesto Cordero’s Four Works for Voice and Guitar.

Dedicated to lifelong learning and vocal pedagogy, Ms. Janz is a graduate of the NATS Intern Program and the Festival of Spanish & Latin American Art Song and Zarzuela. With a growing focus on Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) vocal instruction, she has completed specialized training with master teacher Emily Castleton Warner and at the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory.

A native of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Holly Janz holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, a Master of Music from the University of Colorado, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas. She currently serves as Professor of Voice, Diction, and Pedagogy at Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ in Moorhead, Minnesota.
