The public is invited to attend a free masterclass in vocal performance with a focus on Spanish and German song repertoire at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music, at 欧美视频.
Originally from West Fargo, North Dakota, internationally recognized performer and educator leads the and serves as director of the International Song and Music Center, an organization dedicated to promoting concerts, festivals, and curated events centered on music and cultural exchange.
Following the masterclass, Tintes-Schuermann will offer a Q&A session, with potential topics including leadership and arts curation, the value of liberal arts in a material world, and dreaming big while growing up in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Tintes-Schuermann earned her bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead, her master’s degree at the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities, and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Northwestern University. Further refining her artistry, she earned a Diploma in Opera from Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and a Diploma in Lied and Oratorio from the Hochschule Mozarteum Salzburg, immersing herself in European vocal traditions.
Her teaching career spans institutions and private studios across the globe, including Vienna, Chicago, South Carolina, and Florida, bringing her an international perspective.
A recipient of multiple prestigious grants, Tintes-Schuermann has devoted significant scholarship to Spanish-language music. Most recently, she was awarded a grant through the Fulbright Scholar Program in support of her research and artistic work in Greece and Spain.
German, French, Italian, and English diction classes are considered core music courses for Concordia students earning a with a voice major.
