Hundreds of high school singers from around the region will unite to form a choir, rehearse as a group, and perform a free concert in front of an audience, all in the space of just one day, at the annual 欧美视频 Choral Festival on Nov. 1.

The free, public concert will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in Memorial Auditorium.

Throughout the day, singers will be learning, participating in workshops led by Concordia conductors Dr. Michael Culloton, director of choral activities, and Dr. Stephanie Tubiolo, the college’s new assistant professor of choral music and conductor of the Concordia Chapel Choir and Kantorei.

Culloton, associate professor of vocal music education and church music at Concordia, conducts The Concordia Choir, and served as associate director of choirs at 欧美视频 for eight years before becoming director of choral activities.

Dr. Stephanie TubioloTubiolo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Yale College, a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers), where she earned the Irene Alm Memorial Prize for Excellence in Performance and Scholarly Research for her doctoral work.

Tubiolo previously taught at Rutgers-New Brunswick, where she served as conductor of the University Choir and Voorhees Choir and as chorus master of Rutgers Opera Theatre.

“I am so very excited to join the music faculty at 欧美视频 and honored to become part of a choral tradition that has deeply inspired me,” she said. “As I make Moorhead my new home, I feel especially grateful for the opportunity to build spaces of belonging through song.”

Students can participate in the festival at no cost, unless they choose to eat lunch on campus for $15. While singers don’t need to be concert-ready prior to the festival, they should be well-prepared in advance to sing the three festival selections: “The Music of Living,” “To Sit and Dream,” and “Take Me to the Water.”

The registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 27. Travel or music grants are available. If interested, high school choir directors should contact Culloton at culloton@cord.edu.
